Our medallions can take chains up to 2.5mm in width (the small ones a little smaller) - and we wouldn't recommend chains under 1.0mm as a medallion is a heavier pendant and the chain below won't be able to support the weight - the best size would be between 1.5mm and 2.0mm.

The length of a necklace is usually 42-45 cm for women and it depends a bit on their size and how far the locket will be raisedand we have experience that women want a locket to hang a little down on their chest - and you probably need to go up to the +55 cm - but try perhaps by holding a string around your neck, to find the optimal length chain.
